The Procedure
The inner thigh liposuction procedure can last anywhere from 1 to 4 hours. Dr. Hennessy will perform an “awake liposuction,” meaning that the patient will be awake and fully comfortable during the procedure. This reduces recovery time and side effects, since general anesthesia is not used.
First, a tumescent solution is administered to reduce the chance of bleeding and swell the fat cells for easier removal. This also numbs the region. An incision is made, and a vibrating cannula is inserted to break down and suction out excess fat cells in the inner thighs.
The Recovery Process
The patient can go home right after the inner thigh lipo procedure. A compression garment may be worn to boost healing and maintain the ideal shape of the thighs. Since awake liposuction was performed, the patient will only need 48 hours of recovery time before returning to their regular activities. Results will be instantly noticeable, and full results will be visible once all swelling is gone.
